Don't Hold Your Breath For Native Spotify Support For The Homepod

If you were holding out hope for the fact that apple might one day allow for native Spotify playback or even hopes of being able to connect to an android device to Apple's new oblong squishy speaker, my friend I have some bad news for you. Apple Did What?! The Homepod released on the third of February and ever since Apple officially let us know what the Homepod can and cannot do, people have been freaking out over the fact that is does not have a FM receiver or a headphone jack or a detachable cable and then theres the lack of support for android devices and finally no native Spotify support. A Word To Our Android Friends Surely it must have come as no surprise to you that Apple excluded Android phones from being able to connect to the Homepod. I mean we were all surprised to find that AirPods worked with Android devices. But alas our luck seems to have run out. If you own an Android device and if  you want the Homepod  you're out of luck. I presume its due to Airpl...

No Siri Isn't Holding Back The Homepod

So the homepod was given to Apples favourite media persons the other day and the reviews have started pouring in. One thing is strangely consistent across all these reviews, they all talk about how Siri is holding back the homepod. This really got me scratching my head. Sure Siri might not be able to tell you how much a chipmunk weighs, but really how much do we ask our smart assistants random questions. Lets took at how Siri isn't really holding the homepod back. Siri Is Already Smart Enough No really you didn't read that wrong Siri is more smarter than you realise, especially after the iOS 11 update. Now Siri can answer all the random questions that you have. If I'm being honest here I'm of the opinion that Siri can go toe to toe with the likes of Google assistant. She can answer any random question that you can throw at her ( this wasn't the case before iOS 11). Moreover context awareness has taken off recently, one off the biggest faults with Siri used to...

How The Homepod Might Make Your iPhone Smarter

The Homepod is due to come out in a few days and as the homepod hits shelves, I find myself wondering how the homepod will impact the rest of the Apple ecosystem. Obviously the homepod will have basic functionalities as a smart speaker and don't expect it to go after the likes of the Google  Home or Echo just yet. But with the brains of an iPhone 6 the homepod has plenty of horsepower to expand into more of a smart speaker / great speaker category rather than the great speaker and maybe a smart speaker category it is in right now, and it is that transition that I am interested in. So What Is The Homepod? Ever since 2014 Amazon has been pushing its Echo lineup a selection of smart speakers with Alexa built right into them, A concept unheard of before the time. Over time Alexa acquired quite a large following and Alexa could do more than ever, from turning on lights to getting you pizza. A few years later Google decided to come out with their Google home speaker with their Goo...

The Headphone Jack Must DIE!

We've all been fond of the things we get used to, we fall into routines, we expect somethings out of life. When those routines are broken it takes us a while to adapt. This is particularly true about the headphone jack. To see the damage casued by the headphone jack we need to go back way back History Lesson: Floppies Floppies were revolutionary , for their time they were the most cutting edge technology available. people could now transfer data more easily than ever before. Just plug it in and you're done! In 1980 this was as seamless as it got, You're looking at the snapchat, iCloud and iMessage of the 20th century. And then Apple comes along and kills the floppy drive if the internet was as prevalent as it is today then, I'm sure the internet would have been inundated with posts about how "Removing the Floppy drive is a horrible choice" but in retrospect we see how futile it would have been to stick with floppies. History Lesson : MacBook Air ...

No iPhone Sales Did Not Dip, They In Fact Grew

iPhone sales were down for the first time in forever ( I know You read that in tune), this is what everyone has been on about since apple released their sales figures for the holiday quarter. Which by the way was their best quarter ever with $88 billion in revenue. But they sold fewer iPhones mate... Yes they did a deficit of about 1 Million iPhones,  They sold 1 million fewer iPhones when compared to the corresponding quarter last year, And there lies the catch. According to Apple Insider, in their article about the iPhone sales for the past quarter they give us the reason for why sales dropped by a million. You can read the article  here . Quoting the article : " It should also be noted that Apple's first fiscal quarter of 2016 was one week longer than its 2017 period." So yeah in essence Apple had an extra week to do business in 2016 than in 2017. So Apple Had an Extra Week In 2016 Big Whoop A week may not seem like much until you put it in context. A...

Why Google's Project Treble Is Doomed To Fail

Okay so you clicked the title, and chances are if you're here you probably know what Project Treble is (Trust me there aren't a lot of us out there), and i haven't seen this aspect of Project Treble be brought up anywhere else. So here are my 2 cents on the matter. What is Project Treble? A long long time ago when Android Oreo came out  it has this little Easter Egg that Google hoped would revolutionize Android software support, and as i'm sure you've guessed it is Project Treble. Project Treble Aims to make it easier and less expensive for companies to provide software updates to their phones. So in theory that shiny new android phone that you just got should be supported for the foreseeable future. Project Treble tries to compartmentalize different parts of the OS so that it becomes easier for the OEM to develop their own flavor of android based on the latest iteration of android. Why talk about Project Treble? So what Project Treble promises you ...

Will Every One Calm Down The iPhone X is Doing Fine!

Okay so right off the bat lemme say that I'm biased, but you probably got that from the blog title. But If you really think about it we all are in some form or another we're all bias ed, lets just be open about it. If you're like me and you read a lotta tech news you might have seen headlines that look like this. We've had a lot of reports corroborating and opposing this and these rumours are doing real damage to apple. recently apples shares have taken a small hit wiping off almost $45 billion dollars in their net value. Lets take a look at these rumours now shall we? These rumours cite supply chain sources as -well the source of these rumours, and they have been wildly off before anyone fancy an iPhone 7 pro? Back in 2016 the rumour mill was sure that apple would release 3 new iPhones an iPhone 7 an iPhone 7+ and an iPhone 7 Pro but at long last the iPhone 7 Pro Nev...
