So Which Is The Best Browser For Your Mac?

With all the chrome bashing that's been going on of late, It got me wondering and a bit jealous cause I was missing out on the aforementioned Chrome bashing. Does it really matter what browser you use? I mean they all fundamentally do the same thing, It turns all the ones and zeros of the internet into things that you can actually read on your screen. But as is turns out a whole lot of things have to happen for your favourite website to be displayed to you, In the shady back alleys of code that our browsers run on, It turns out that each browser does things a little bit differently. So what are our options? The Three main browsers that we'll be taking a look at today will be Safari, Firefox and Chrome.  Safari Safari is the browser that comes with your iPhone or iPad or your Mac as we are discussing in this case. It's a fast fluid responsive modern browser. It's my browser on choice. Safari a few things going for it. First off it's a first pa...

Is Google In Trouble?

To say that Google is the king of web searches would be an under statement, Most of us who have been on the internet at least once have been on Google. hw many other websites can claim such a feat? Google being Google has capitalised on its market dominance. From being a website Google is almost THE internet. But all of this is predicated on one thing, Google's Ad Business bringing in the money. The BackStory Google did start out as a search engine, but once it gained some traction Google was quick to branch out, not putting its proverbial eggs in one basket I presume. From its acquisition of Youtube and Android Google cemented itself as the one stop shop to get everything on the internet. With time most of Google's services exploded from YouTube to Gmail to Drive to Google Photos you get the idea. Google was good at making services. Google had us hooked on it's...

The iPhone Xs Just Copied The Google Pixel's Best Feature

If you've heard anything about the Google Pixel over the past 2 years, It's that the Google Pixel has one of the best smartphone cameras out there period. Ever since the original Pixel back in 2016 people have been raving about how good the pictures are, one the Pixel line up. Admittedly it is impressive how much Google has been able to accomplish with the single camera on their phones. The thing to remember is that the hardware isn't that special, I imagine the sensors used in the Google Pixel are your run of the mill flagship grade image sensors. Where Google sprinkles some pixie dust on your images is in the software. Google works wonders on your image with it's amazing software and lets be real here its Google were talking about so its probably some form of AI. Google's amazing software and it's own Visual Core  chips have produced some amazing shots. Looks like Apple just decided to steal...

The Pixel 3XL: Dead On Arrival

Never has it been so easy for me to find photos of an unreleased phone. Never. Thanks to these extensive leaks, We've lowered our expectations of what to expect from the pixel lineup. but since my last article about the Pixel  a lot of things have changed and unfortunately not for the better. Now sure the phone looks horrendous but if you look past the looks the Pixel still has some gaping holes. Still No Exclusives! My biggest gripe with the Pixel isn't it's price but it's lack of features. Sure it might be a good spec-ed phone but it's nothing eye-catching. I know I'm repeating my self from my last article but 6 months later those points still remain valid. Despite the massive amount of leaks we've had for the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3Xl we've yet to see a revolutionary new feature that will set it apart from the  competition. In fact I'm going to argue that this time arou...

Is It Okay For Donald Trump To Regulate Google?

We rarely talk about politics here and frankly why would we? Politics is messy divisive and just pits us against each other. Tech brings us closer together in the sense that it lets you talk to your family thousands of miles away and in the sense that the release of a new phone or a graphics card is cause for celebration for millions of people. But recently Donald Trump's tirade against Google got me thinking. How much regulation is too much. For the uninformed here's the long and short of it. Donald Trump Accused Google of bias as most of the news reports that pop up when you search for Donald Trump were negative. Now there are technical and other reasons for the so called "bias" The Atlantic goes in depth on that issue . After all Google does feature articles and sites that the general public is interested in and trusts higher on their search results. But this brings up a more existential question as far...

How Much Data Does Google Have? 2006 vs 2016

I know this is not the type of articles we have on this blog, After all the is the Applesheep not its google equivalent. But theres no denying that google is a major player in today's tech space. Google has their fingers in a lot of pies.Just a quick google search about Google's services and apps will lead you to a list that is very long . But just how has Google's core business grown over the past 10 or 12 years? So How Much Data Does Google Have? So the other day I was uploading a few photos and videos onto google photos, which totalled a few gigabytes, and that got m thinking if Google allows an individual to store as many photos and videos as they want on their sever ( I have about 10400 photos and videos ) how much data does google have in all? So I did some digging and according to most estimates,  Google has about 10-15 exabytes of data . Wait you don't know what a exabyte is? Well 1024 gigabytes make up a terabyte, 1024 terabytes make up a petabyte likew...

The Pixel Has Been Dethroned

Before we dive headfirst into this article I just want to say that I do not consider DxO mark to be the absolute authority on camera quality. Camera quality is subjective and trying to encompass the wide array of factors of a camera into a single number is absurd to say the least. But a vast majority of you reading this do care about  a DxO mark. So How Does The Google Pixel Fit Into All Of This? Recently DxO mark came out saying that the Galaxy S9+ has the best camera ever . The S9+ had a score of 99 just edging out the Pixel 2 which has a score of 98. Just hours later Consumer Reports came out with their own report stating that the iPhone X had the best camera ( This is totally understandable as like I've said camera quality is a subjective thing). But here's the thing that really caught me off guard, if I fully expected Consumer Reports to back the Google Pixel 2 as the best camera out there not the iPhone X( Again not because I think the iPhone X has a bad camera, b...

The Pixel's Fatal Flaw

October brings a lot of things Autumn, candy and of course new Pixel devices and ever since these devices hit the shelves in 2016 reviewers and consumers alike have been raving about how good the camera is on the Pixel. But with all phones converging into the same minimal bezel glass sandwich design the Pixel is about to stumble into a whole new problem. Exclusives! The Pixel has long prided itself on it's camera. In 2016 when the Pixel came out the camera on the original Pixel blew the competition away with only the iPhone 7+ or S7 coming close. This time around in 2017 while being the one of the best cameras in the business the Pixel 2 could not be crowned the best camera in 2017 ( Don't bring up DXo Mark just don't). The cameras on the iPhone X really gave the Pixel 2 a run for its money. Looking back at the phones released in 2017 we see a trend the S8 had a gorgeous design, the V30 had a beefed up headphone jack, the Razer Phone was built for gamers, the iPh...

No Siri Isn't Holding Back The Homepod

So the homepod was given to Apples favourite media persons the other day and the reviews have started pouring in. One thing is strangely consistent across all these reviews, they all talk about how Siri is holding back the homepod. This really got me scratching my head. Sure Siri might not be able to tell you how much a chipmunk weighs, but really how much do we ask our smart assistants random questions. Lets took at how Siri isn't really holding the homepod back. Siri Is Already Smart Enough No really you didn't read that wrong Siri is more smarter than you realise, especially after the iOS 11 update. Now Siri can answer all the random questions that you have. If I'm being honest here I'm of the opinion that Siri can go toe to toe with the likes of Google assistant. She can answer any random question that you can throw at her ( this wasn't the case before iOS 11). Moreover context awareness has taken off recently, one off the biggest faults with Siri used to...

Why Google's Project Treble Is Doomed To Fail

Okay so you clicked the title, and chances are if you're here you probably know what Project Treble is (Trust me there aren't a lot of us out there), and i haven't seen this aspect of Project Treble be brought up anywhere else. So here are my 2 cents on the matter. What is Project Treble? A long long time ago when Android Oreo came out  it has this little Easter Egg that Google hoped would revolutionize Android software support, and as i'm sure you've guessed it is Project Treble. Project Treble Aims to make it easier and less expensive for companies to provide software updates to their phones. So in theory that shiny new android phone that you just got should be supported for the foreseeable future. Project Treble tries to compartmentalize different parts of the OS so that it becomes easier for the OEM to develop their own flavor of android based on the latest iteration of android. Why talk about Project Treble? So what Project Treble promises you ...
